On Thursday, the Most Rev. John Bogna Bakeni was officially consecrated as the Auxiliary Bishop of Maiduguri Catholic Diocese in Borno state in front of dozens of Catholic Bishops and Archbishops from within and beyond the nation, as well as notable personalities.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party's 2023 presidential contender, was also present. Vanguard learned that he was in Maiduguri on purpose to attend the Ordination despite his refusal to speak to the media.
Bishops from the dioceses of Enugu, Onitcha, Keffi, Panshin, Jalingo, Yola, Bauchi, and Jos, among others, also attended the Episcopal Ordination.
The first indigenous Bishop from Borno State, Bakeni is a native of the Shani Local Government Area.
